It is quite saddening how North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un lives in luxury while the rest of the nation combats extensive poverty. According to ABC News, Kim Jong-un has costly plans for the country such as a state-of-the-art water park, complete with 10 swimming pools of all shapes and sizes and four massive water slides. But this water park is “only for a tiny minority—the regime’s elite” for their support and loyalty.

Human Rights Watch reported that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea) “systematically violates the rights of its population” such as organized political opposition, free media, religious freedom, and functioning civil society. Serious problems such as detention, lack of due process, and ill-treatment of detainees still remain as serious and pervasive problems. Also, the government “periodically publicly executes citizens for stealing state property, hoarding food, and ‘anti-socialist’ crimes”.
