Yoram Haimi

Haimi had only found out a few months before he joined the Sobibor excavation team that his two uncles had also perished in the death camp. He, along with the rest of the team, understood that what they were going to find out was going to shed a whole new light on Sobibor and what it was. Very little was known about it since there were less than 50 survivors, it was both exciting and atrocious at the same time.

Some Of The First Things They Uncovered

It was basically 70 years since Sobibor was covered up, and people were ready to hear about the horrors that happened to their families. Not only were Haimi and Polish archeologist Wojtek Mazurek, able to figure out the layout of the camp, they were also able to uncover many other personal items of the victims. Haimi explained, “Our results bring new information about Sobibor every day we excavate.”
