Three Camp Sites

Sobibor was known as the Sobibor Death Camp for a reason. It had three separate areas, and it was run like a well-oiled machine. There was the administration area, a reception area, and then there was the killing area. Each area had its own particular reason for existence. The admin area dealt with offices and those lucky enough to be on the other side of the fight. The reception welcomed the victims, who were systematically required to undress, usually led directly to their deaths. And the killing area, well, this hardly needs to be explained. But what was located there were the gas chambers, the mass graves and the living quarters of those Jews not yet killed, but had no choice but to work on the site.

Herds Of People Brought In To Die

Those who were brought in from other areas had no idea what they were in for. It was reported that 40 to 60 trains would arrive, and people from 20 of the cars were sent inside, thinking that they would be sent to a new area to live. Sadly, they would be forced to hand over all their belongings, undress and asked to go through a ‘tube.’ They believed this tube would lead them straight to the showers as the signs above displayed. But, in fact, it would bring them directly to the gas chambers. They would be locked inside and gassed until they were dead, never even having a chance to see the camp that they were forced to go to.
