Those that were imprisoned at Sobibor and not immediately executed on their arrival had heard about the chance that the camp was going to close. They decided to revolt against the regime, in the hopes that they could finally escape the nightmare that they were in. So on October 14, 1943, 600 people took up arms, while some of them were even able to kill eleven SS officers and get to the fences. Half of them were able to get over them and out of the minefields that surrounded the camp.
