Building The Train Tracks

Aside from having around 80 Jews build the train tracks via forced labor, even before the tracks were done, it was said that they were gassed, although a few had managed to escape. Apparently, gassing at Sobibor happened more often than not, sometimes at an unbelievably quick pace. In fact, some people were killed right when they would arrive, so much so that they didn’t even know where they were. And sadly, there were many more death camps just like this.

Under The Leadership Of Stangl And Reichleitner

During the years of Sobibor’s existence, the death camp was under the leadership of two people under the regime of Hitler. From April to August of 1942, SS First Lieutenant Franz Stangl handled the camp, while SS Captain Franz Reichleitner took over from August 1942 to November 1943. And during the time that they handled the facility, they would go on to commit some of the most atrocious inhumanities against mankind.
