A Contestant From Another Show
Vanna White was a model and aspiring actress who snagged an appearance as a contestant in the gameshow “The Price Is Right” prior to joining “Wheel of Fortune”. Although she didn’t win, she was able to audition later for the hosting role vacated by Susan Stafford, where over 200 candidates applied. She was chosen as one of the three finalists who alternated hosting duties for several weeks, among them a former Playboy centerfold model, as part of the selection process before eventually landing the part officially in 1982.
