The Playboy Controversy

In 1987, and at the height of “Vannamania,” Wheel of Fortune viewers were shocked with the images of a seminude Vanna White gracing the cover of Playboy magazine, to the horror of the TV host. However, White never actually posed to appear in the magazine and only posed for photos in 1982, prior to joining the show, to make ends meet. These photos were apparently acquired by Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner and were then featured in the magazine. White filed a suit against both the magazine and Hefner but eventually the suits were dropped.
