Too many eyes

The couple also noticed something quite odd at the dance. Clare and her friends felt that there were too many chaperones present and that it felt awkward that these volunteers watching them from around the dance floor and from above on the balcony, were mostly adult men. The feeling of someone older and from the opposite gender ogling at them while they were dancing was too uncomfortable and prevented them from having a good time.
