5. Numbness
Numbness or a tingling “pins and needles” sensation is a mild sign of a stroke and could also be caused by a number of other conditions. Even so, being aware of it could do no harm, especially if you suspect that a person might be suffering from a stroke. Numbness felt in the hand, for example, makes us think that the problem lies on your hands ability to feel. You may be right, but in cases of stroke, it is not the receptors or nerves in your hands that are the problem, it is the ability of the brain to process these sensations that is impaired. This arises from damage caused by the lack of blood supply to the brain, thanks to the presence of a clot blocking the blood vessels.
