S: Speech

One of the most noticeable signs of an impending stroke is slurred speech. A person suffering from stroke will find it difficult to talk because the blood supply to the part of the brain which controls the muscles of the mouth, tongue and throat has been cut-off, causing paralysis or weakness. This warning sign could present as a sudden loss of the ability to communicate clearly, or it could be gradual. Regardless, it is important to call emergency services the minute you notice this warning sign.
