Regardless of what others believed, Brittany explains that what she was doing was not actually suicide. She said, “There is not a cell in my body that is suicidal or that wants to die. I want to live. I wish there was a cure for my disease but there’s not.” Unlike other people who sadly choose to end their lives due to depression or other serious mental issues, she was choosing her death because she didn’t have any other choice, and this was the last remaining thing that she could actually control. But it still didn’t mean that everyone would understand.

Regardless of what people thought or chose to say about her, positive or negative, Brittany had made a decision, and she was going to commit to it, knowing that it was her choice. And while she still could, she wanted to spend her last few days on earth doing things she wanted with her loved ones. One of the things on her bucket list was seeing the Grand Canyon, which she was able to do with her husband Dan, mom Deborah, and stepdad, Gary. She had even written about it saying, “The Canyon was breathtakingly beautiful, and I was able to enjoy my time with the two things I love most: my family and nature.”
