Despite the pain and suffering that her family had to endure in her sickness and death, they knew that supporting Brittany in her choice was the only thing they were ever going to do. Brittany knew how loved she was, and had even lovingly said about her husband and family, “I am so lucky to have known the love of an amazing husband (my husband Dan is a hero), a loving, caring mother, and an incredible group of friends and extended family.” She knew she couldn’t have done it without them. She had also shared, “I hope you will all take up my request to carry on this work, and support them as they carry on my legacy. I’m so grateful to you all.”

Fighting For Her Wishes

Even though she was able to make the choice to ‘die with dignity,’ her wish is that others in similar situations to hers will be able to have the same alternative. She had told People Magazine, “For people to argue against this choice for sick people really seems evil to me. They try to mix it up with suicide and that’s really unfair, because there’s not a single part of me that wants to die. But I am dying. It’s not a decision you make one day and you snap your fingers.”
