So on the same day, as she bid farewell on Facebook, November 1, Brittany chose to die by taking the doctor-prescribed pills given to her in the comforts of her own room. In her home, on the bed that she and Dan shared, Brittany listened to some of her favorite music and peacefully died surrounded by the people that mattered most. She had shared with the public before she passed, “I can’t even tell you the amount of relief that it provided me to know that I don’t have to die the way it’s been described to me that my brain tumor would take me on its own.”

Even after she died, her story created an unbelievable amount of controversy and interest. People Magazine did a special on Brittany and her choice to ‘die with dignity.’ She had shared with them, “I didn’t launch this campaign because I wanted attention. I did this because I want to see a world where everyone has access to death with dignity, as I have had. My journey is easier because of this choice.”
