For Brittany, it felt like this would be the only decision left for her to make. She explained, “My glioblastoma is going to kill me and that’s out of my control. I’ve discussed with many experts how I would die from it and it’s a terrible, terrible way to die. So being able to choose to go with dignity is less terrifying.” And yet, people would judge her for her actions.

After making such a challenging decision, Brittany and her husband chose to move to Oregon, a State that had the ‘Death with Dignity Law.’ And during the entire process, she also partnered with Compassion & Choices, a non-profit organization that helped people in assisted legal death. They started the Brittany Maynard Fund, wanting to help increase aid given to patients who choose to end their lives, in the only 5 States that actually allow it.
