7. Chiang Kai-shek


Chiang Kai-shek was a prominent and influential leader of the Republic of China from 1928 to 1975. He was opposed to communism, and it was his goal to lead China to a new form of government. For much of his leadership, he was known as the “White Terror” for vigorously purging China of opposition. In his long years at the helm, an estimated 1 million people lost their lives, most of whom were communists.
