He was constantly met with opposition and he usually crushed them in a manner which would instill fear to those planning to rise against his regime in the future. For over five years since 1982, his administration claimed the lives of more than 20,000 Ndebele civilians as part of his alleged political genocide. To date, more than 3.1 million Zimbabweans suffered from his so called “land reform program” which leveled with bulldozers villages that opposed his government.
