Finally in 2012, the time arrived for Alyssa to finally go to trial and answer for her crimes. It had been three years since Elizabeth had died, and her mom was still as angry and upset as the day she lost her beloved daughter. According to Elizabeth’s mom, Patricia Preiss, talking about her daughter’s killers, she said, “I hate her, I hate everything about her.”

Saying Sorry

Alyssa would end up being convicted of second-degree murder. She even cried upon seeing her grandparents in court, which was right before she gave her apologies to Elizabeth’s family. In her apology, Alyssa said, “I know words can never be enough and they can never adequately describe how horribly I feel for all of this. If I could give my life to get her back I would. I’m sorry.” After everything, she would be sentenced to life in prison, but still with the possibility of parole.
