So, Swango left OSU and went back home. Surprisingly, a Quincy hospital accepted his application and he worked as emergency medical technician at Adams County Ambulance Corps by July of 1984. He had been fired previously from another ambulance service because he was caught allowing a heart patient to drive the vehicle. Nonetheless, this marred record seemed unimportant.
