Prosecutors were able to get a hold of Swango’s spiral-bound diary. This contained five pages of pure motive. It appeared that the shamed doctor killed out of sheer joy. He liked playing god and was addicted to the smell of death. He liked the power of having the lives of people in his hands and he simply exercised that need to kill in order to get a certain high. Furthermore, the dark and macabre books that he had in his possession had only intensified his passion for killing.
