His Story
Joseph Michael Swango was born on October 21, 1954 in Tacoma, Washington. His father was a US army officer who served in the Vietnam War and had made a name for himself. However, he was also an alcoholic. When he got back from Vietnam, Swango’s parents divorced and Muriel, his mother, was left to raise the children by herself. In fact, when asked whom he was closest to, he would say his mother.
