Childhood and School

Swango had a relatively normal childhood. He played the clarinet and graduated valedictorian at Quincy Catholic Boys High School. He also served in the Marine Corps but in 1976, he was honorably discharged. He learned discipline during his years of service here and while he never saw action, he conducted himself like a marine when it came to health.
