The events of 9-11 have taught America a hard lesson, and because of that, the FBI came up with a database system consisting of all the fingerprints of every criminal in every state. After digitally retouching the photographs of the original fingerprints, they ran the very same fingerprints on the database, and compared it to 47,000,000 fingerprints prints in the system and found a match- the thumbprint belonged to a man who committed burglary in South Carolina, way back in 1956. They now had something solid and they did not waste their time looking into what they had.
