Mason continued to be vague as to why he did what he did, and to the parole board that was not a good sign. They felt he was not taking responsibility for his actions, to them he did not seem to feel guilty enough about what had happened. As for the rape, he was heard calling what he did nothing unusual. It would be another fifteen years before he would be eligible for another parole hearing. Mason was 75 then and he was never able to get out, he died behind bars as the state of California had hoped and terrifyingly enough, no one knew of his past.
