Kennedy, Sr. was a prestigious banker who also worked as the Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as being the Ambassador to Great Britain for some time. His mother, Rose Kennedy, on the other hand, was a debutante that belonged to the prominent Fitzgerald family, who were also a well-known and respected family in politics.
