The Chaos That Ensued
As soon as the President was shot, he was rushed to the Parkland Hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival. To everyone’s shock and chagrin, the man they admired, cherished, and loved, lost his life by bullets shot by an unidentified person at the time. Jackie refused to leave his side, even desisting from changing her bloodied clothing afterwards while Lyndon B. Johnson, who was then Vice President, was sworn in while aboard the Presidential airplane, Air Force One.
