John, who was also nicknamed JFK later on, was expected to do what most other Fitzgerald and Kennedy men did, and that was to succeed in whatever he did. But as a young child, he was often beset with illness, as well as multiple trips in and out of the hospital. In fact, when he was less than 3-years old, he got scarlet fever and it was feared that he may actually die. Thankfully he survived, but he would continue to fall sick and even had a leukemia scare at one point in his college days. His sicknesses would happen so often that they would actually become a running joke in his family. But as time went on, his health actually got better, as did he.
