From that day of his “conversation” with God, Mitchell’s manner changed completely. He stopped cutting his hair and he started wearing robes, looking more and more like a biblical figure and reminiscent of an Old Testament prophet. He was even known around Salt Lake Valley as an “eccentric but harmless street preacher,” and no one ever thought that he would cause any harm. How wrong they were.
