Supposed Divine Intervention
Apparently, Mitchell was also a Mormon who seemingly went quite extreme in his religious beliefs. In the year 2000, on Thanksgiving Day, he told his wife Barzee that he had a conversation with God. And during their talk, God had told him to take on 7 other wives. He had also received the message that his name was no longer Brian David Mitchell, but in fact Immanuel David Isaiah, and that his new purpose on earth was to “serve as a mouthpiece for the Lord during the Last Days.”
