De Wallen is the oldest part of the city, with beautiful canals, cobblestone streets, and historic architecture. But it’s more famously known as the Red Light District in Amsterdam, where scantily-dressed women display themselves from behind glass windows to potential customers. Snapping photos of these working girls is not allowed so even if you think it would be a cool souvenir to sneak a photo, resist the urge to avoid an embarrassing confrontation. This isn’t the time to test if your phone or camera is waterproof, as there is a chance it gets tossed in the nearby canal.
