Don’t Touch People, Especially Kids
Dutch people value their personal space and don’t like to be touched, and a simple gesture might easily be misinterpreted. Don’t touch their kids, as they are very protective when it comes to them and the only people permitted to touch them in a social setting are their parents, close friends, or professionals like teachers or doctors who have business with them. Keep your hands off even if you mean it as a gesture of appreciation or admiration on how they look or even if you’re just being friendly.
