Germans are serious about trash and how to get rid of it properly. In fact, they are so serious about it that they charge an additional 8 to 25 cents for every bottle or soda can that you buy, which is actually called the Pfand-system. This way, you will be obliged to return it to the shop where they bought them rather then throw them in the trash. That way, you help save the environment and you get your deposit back.
