16. Perihepatitis

All major organs are covered by thin membranes which serve as blood vessel attachments that also give protection and stability, keeping them where they are supposed to be. These membranes sometimes swell, causing discomfort in those who are suffering from them. One condition that causes the inflammation of the liver’s surrounding membrane is known as Fitz-Hugh-Curtiss syndrome.

Perihepatitis commonly present as pain in the right upper portion of the abdomen which can spread to the right shoulder. It is worsened by movement, particularly coughing and sneezing.
