8. Food Allergies
Sensitivity to certain types of food such as gluten, dairy, nuts, or eggs, can also result in severe abdominal pain. This comes as a result of the body’s abnormal immune response after being exposed to allergens, causing irritation and inflammation in a patient’s digestive tract. Some of the symptoms associated with food sensitivity include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, difficulty swallowing, diarrhea, bloating, abdominal distention, abdominal cramps and hives.
Allergies can be very serious health problems especially when severe enough to cause chest pain and shortness of breath, signs that may lead to anaphylactic shock if not addresses immediately.
