Rocky would go on to receive the Purple Heart award, one of the highest military forms of recognition that one can receive for their service and bravery in the Armed Forces. Aside from that, he would also get the Bronze Star for his courageous deeds on the battlefield. And off them, he took home four Super Bowl rings. It would seem that Rocky could truly be seen as a hero in practically everyone’s eyes.

40 Years Later

While Rocky’s NFL career has been over for almost half a century, his life has not become any less relevant. If there’s one thing that’s happened since he stopped playing ball, it’s that his life story has gone on to inspire and encourage so many, as it should. Not all super heroes come with magical powers, in fact, some just have pure grit and determination. And Robert “Rocky” Bleier has proven this over and over again.
