Getting Cut From The Team

Wistfully for Rocky, he just couldn’t seem to get to the place he needed to be physically in order to be an asset for his team. Then the head coach, Chuck Noll, would decide to finally cut him from the roster since it just didn’t seem to be working out. Heartbroken, Rocky believed that his efforts were all for naught. That was, until someone else decided to give him another chance.

Coming To His Rescue

Remarkably, the team’s owner, and the same man who had sent Rocky the postcard while he was in recovery, Art Rooney, told the coach to put him back on the injured reserve player list the very next day. And in an even more stunning move, he even offered to pay for another surgery to remove more of the leftover shrapnel and scar tissue that was left in Rocky’s legs to help him have a better chance of being a successful player.
