When the group had made it down to Camp Two, which was around 21,300 feet, there were two doctors there ready to assist Beck with his injuries. Dr. Ken Kamler, who was a surgeon from New York, and Dr. Henrik Jessen Jansen, a Danish doctor. The two men were already helping all the other victims of the storm. They started an IV line for Beck, with his arms also being put in warm water to help see how far along the frostbite was. His face was also heavily frostbitten, with his nose already feeling like porcelain. They couldn’t know the extent of the damage just yet, though. That would have to wait until he was back home and in a hospital, if he ever made it back.
