Hiding Jews
Stefania eventually took in another 12 Jews in hiding who all remained in the attic, even when she was forced by the Nazis to take in two German nurses and their partners. Thankfully, they all survived until the war was over 8 months later, and Stefania ended up moving to the United States to live out the rest of her days, even marrying one of the men whom she had kept safe during the war.
Number 5: Fernande Keufgens
Born into a family whose father had been a part of World War I, he wanted none of his 8 children to have to face the kind of atrocities he did at such a young age. But sadly, the Belgian born family was given no choice when Germany invaded their country, giving them no out except to join the Nazi movement.
