With the world on the brink of the millennium, Y2K , also known as the Millennium Bug, became one of the biggest computer scares. The idea behind it was that the digits that made the year 1999 wouldn’t go to 2000, but that computers would end up going back to 1900. Thankfully, as the year turned to 2000, it would seem that it had caused wide spread panic for no reason at all, as gratefully, no major glitches would actually occur.

The Euro Is Introduced

On January 1, 1999, the Euro, which is also known as ‘Single Currency,’ would be accepted by 11 states of the European Union as their new currency. Its introduction was for a more unified European union, allowing travel and commodities to be more transparent between nations. It took over 3 years to completely get the Euro to be used by it’s 12 members, while some, such as the United Kingdom and Denmark still use their own money.
