First Man To Walk On The Moon

Although there had been many space missions before this particular one, July 20, 1969 would mark the first day that man would actually walk on the moon. Neil Armstrong became the world’s most famous astronaut when his first step would have him declare, ‘That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,” changing the course of space missions from that day forward.

The Ethiopian Famine

One of the world’s worst famines happened in Ethiopia, causing over 400,000 deaths of men, women and children. Throughout the span of 1983 to 1985, due to drought, wide spread pneumonia and other health issues, the famine was also linked to the Ethiopian Civil War. And while many countries got together to airdrop food and supplies to starving communities, many residents of affected areas were also forced to leave their homes, causing thousands to die during their relocation.
