Perez Arrested For Possession Of Illegal Firearm
One of the sheriff’s deputies noticed a rifle case in the back of Perez’s car. He questioned Perez about it, and the Marine said it contained an AR-15. The police looked into it and discovered that the semi-automatic had been reported stolen in an unrelated NCIS investigation. Perez was subsequently arrested for being in possession of a stolen AR-15 assault rifle. Perez was also interrogated about Brittany’s disappearance, but he was uncooperative. With the discovery of an illegal weapon in his car and a story that wasn’t adding up, Perez was booked into a detention center. Though he was not yet charged with anything explicitly related to Brittany’s disappearance, Perez was identified as a “person of interest,” and his bail was set at $500,000.
