That Fateful Night She Accepted Help
At 5 PM on April 13th, Brittany borrowed a dark purple evening gown from a friend and said she was heading to Downtown San Diego with Perez. At 7:40 PM, Louis Perez drove into her apartment complex, and Brittany got inside his vehicle. He drove away, supposedly taking her to the Hornblower Cruise. At 7:50 PM, Brittany reached out to her friend with a single text message that said, “Help.” Brittany was a young woman at a transitional point in her life. She was packing to move back with her family before she vanished. To this day, Michelle would never understand why her daughter had not listened to her gut—because Brittany was never going to get on that cruise. She was never even leaving Fallbrook.
