Slave Claims To Have Acted Alone
On Tuesday morning, the 17th of April 2012, the police were directed to the Ramada Inn Hotel where they heard a muffled female voice coming from room 105. Hoping it was the missing woman they had been searching for, the police forced their way inside. But they didn’t find Brittany. Instead, they saw Lopez with self-inflicted cuts on her wrists, appearing like she tried to kill herself. They took her to a hospital for medical attention then booked her into a detention facility. They also found Lopez’s suicide note in the hotel bathroom. It was a seven-page confession that detailed how she strangled Brittany to death and attempted to chop up the body before she disposed of it near Lake Skinner. Lopez also wrote that she had acted alone—that she murdered Brittany because she was worried Perez was attracted to the young Marine wife.
