At that point, Michelle Wrest knew something was terribly wrong. She immediately called Brittany’s friends and learned that a certain Louis Perez took her on a dinner cruise the night before. She got Perez’s contact number and called him. Michelle asked him where her daughter was because Perez was supposed to take Brittany on a dinner cruise, and she was yet to come home. Perez told her they decided to go to one of the bars downtown instead. He claimed to have dropped Brittany off at the Whisky Girl before parking the car, and when he came to look for her after 10 minutes, she was gone. He assumed Brittany hooked up with someone and left him. Michelle knew Perez’s story was nonsense. Brittany was not the sort of person to just meet random guys at a bar and go with them. She told her husband, Darryl, she was certain Perez did something to their daughter.
