Crazy enough that Gay Bob made his appearance sometime in the 70s, but apparently Ken himself had his own makeover to become Earring Magic Ken, complete with a silver hop, purple leather vest and a mesh shirt inside. We don’t know if you’re seeing what we are, but it would seem that what they really wanted was a George Michael replica. Mattel would even later go on to share that this particular Ken doll was actually ‘the best-selling Ken doll of all time,’ except we’re pretty positive that it wasn’t kids who were buying them.

Lawn Darts

Lawn Darts, or Jarts as they were otherwise known, were all the rage back in the 80s when they first came out. Basically, they were giant darts that opponents would throw into the air to attempt to reach a ring sitting on the lawn, kind of like playing a toss up of darts and ring toss really. But when one 7-year old girl got pierced on the head with one during a friendly game, and was later on pronounced clinically dead, Jarts would end up getting removed from stores completely, only lasting for 8 years on the market.
