30 Dirty Secrets The NFL Doesn’t Want You To Know

Blackout for Empty Seats

Source:https://bleacherreport.com/

Every sport has a blackout and doing so protect local broadcasters from the competition provided by out-of-market stations. A blackout ensures that a scheduled program is not aired on specific media market. However, when it comes to the NFL, the aforementioned is used for rather different reason. Apparently, the league does not like to see visibly empty seats during one of their games. In order to keep people from thinking that the game or a specific team is not doing well, they will blackout an entire game within a 75-mile radius if the game is not sold out in three days before kick-off. Who suffers with this move? Simply put, it punishes the fans who were unable to buy tickets to the game.
