Concussions and Brain Traumas
The issue on horrible brain damage incurred by players continues to haunt the league. It took the dedicated work of Dr. Bennett Omalu who looked over the brains of many football players in his study. When he examined the case of late Mike Webster (the great Steelers center – “Iron” Mike) he discovered that the main reason why so many players lose their minds and slip into a black abyss is caused by Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE).
