The largest city in the state of Wisconsin and the 5th largest in the mid-western United States, it is shocking that 150,000 people among its large population of almost 600,000 residents live in poverty. The high rate of violent crimes here beats the national average five times over, causing a fall in its population as more and more residents relocate elsewhere.
People often travel to Milwaukee precisely because of the picturesque waterfront views along Lake Michigan. Yet in spite of how it lures admirers in, tourists and residents alike are told to be careful of the dangers that lurk in its welcoming and stunning views. There’s even an area that police watch over more closely due to the higher number of crimes that occur there.
