Detroit has been riddled with issues of unemployment and poverty for many years, making it a part of America’s most dangerous cities for quite a number of years. Then to make matters worse, during the economic fall of the country, Detroit dealt with large numbers of buildings being emptied and a higher rate of poverty, which then caused even more violent crimes within the city, including 267 homicides in a single year alone.

Detroit was once considered to be the worst and most dangerous city to live in in the whole of the United States, it’s crash from a once industrial city to where it is now, is a sad story of urban decline. Home to almost 1.8 million residents at the peak of the car making industry in the US in the 50s, it is now home to 2/3 of half of its former numbers. The closure and downsizing of many of the job-providing assembly plants have left many unemployed and have triggered the migration of workers away from the once bustling city.
