17. Urinary Incontinence
Incontinence or the loss of bladder control is also a problem often encountered by Multiple Sclerosis patients. Nerve signals coming from the brain, which control your bladder sphincter muscle and prevent urine from coming out when you are not ready, are blocked due to the damage to the spinal cord caused by the body’s hyperactive immune system. Because of this, some patients have a fear of wetting themselves in public, which can seriously affect how they go about their daily routine.
