Optic neuritis or the swelling of the optic nerve can result when the body’s immune system attacks the vital nerve by mistake. This autoimmune response affects the ability of the optic nerve to effectively transmit signals to the brain, causing vision problems in patients with Multiple Sclerosis. One of these visual impairments is blurry vision, which may last for weeks and could get worse as time passes. However, remissions do occur, during which vision begins to improve until the next attack happens.
